I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your
web site. I, too, have been taking these "Welcome To" pictures.
My collection, however, is going pretty slowly. I've been
to about half of the states, but didn't start taking these
pictures till recently. So far, I've gotten: Alabama, Arkansas,
Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Massachussets,
Mississippi, New Hampshire North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina,
Tennessee Here's an idea for your arrangement.... Find a map
of the US that's roughly 4' x 4'. Cut out the pictures in
the shape of the states and place them on the map. Frame and
hang for everyone to see. That's what I plan on doing above
my basement bar. Just thought I would let you know that you
aren't alone!

My name is MaryKay and I work for one of the
world's largest apparel industries as an artist. When I was
asked by Chilren's Television Workshop - Sesame Street to
design a little boys garment using different street signs
indicating .."how to get to...Sesame Street" instead of driving
around in my car look for the different signs I pulled up
your web sight. Thanks for the help.
P.S. I am originally form Wisconsin and when I saw your "welcome
to..." signs I of course pulled up Wisconsin's. I had to laugh...I
miss home.

Hi Roger. The other day I was coming back
from Virginia, and I saw a sign for Washington, D.C. going
north on Interstate 295 from Maryland (near where it meets
I-95/495 by Oxon Hill, MD). I don't think it actually said
welcome, but I passed by it rather quickly. Maybe if you decide
to head east to snap pictures of the Nova Scotia, New Brunswick,
Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador welcome
signs, you could go by way of the District of Columbia to
get that sign as well.

Roger, I spotted your site on the web and
was impressed to see someone do what my goal is but take it
one step further. I have been to 46 states and have photographed
the Welcome to signs in every state. I even have a couple
from several states if I visit and enter in different parts
where signs are different. The only state so far that I was
not able to find a sign was Oregon and we entered in 3 different
spots.. I've yet to visit Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Hawaii.
When I take a photo of the sign, it's basically just that,
a picture of the sign. Maybe on one or two occasions I have
someone in the picture, but now that I think about it your
idea is novel. I'm impressed,

I really enjoyed your site. I'm glad I'm not
the only one who looks forward to seeing those signs on trips
out of state. In fact, I get mad when a truck blocks my view
of state welcome signs. I've been to about 30 states (mostly
east of the Mississippi and in the Southwest). I'd have to
say my 2 personal favorites are New Mexico's and Wyoming's.
I don't have a picture collection like you do, but it has
given me an idea. Take care.

Hello Roger, I didn't think there was anyone
else who collected "welcome signs". My friend, Winnie, found
your web site. Congratulations on obtaining all 50 plus. I
only have 30 and I don't have them with me standing next to
them. Some times I take a photo as were are flying past on
I 95 at 70 mph. My husband will stop if we judge it properly.I
have some funny stories about getting the photos. I'm interested
in knowing where you got the New Jersey welcome sign. I live
outside of Phila. and only have one poor excuse for a sign
of N.J. My most beautiful is Mississippi. Yours isn't as nice
as mine. We just came back from the N.W. where I added Wash.,
Oregon and Calif. to my collection. Now I have to get the
central states, the boring ones. Maybe next yr. I've been
to Hawaii, but do not have a sign. Hope you get on one of
the TV shows. Johnny Carson used to have people with odd collections
on. I'll never forget the women with the potato chips. Funny!!
You have nice web site...glad there are people out there as
goofy as myself.

Enjoyed your site....I have lived on the Wisconsin/Michigan
line (Marinette and Menominee) and now live in Texas 20 miles
from the La. border. I grew up looking at those welcome signs
for Wi./Mi. and they are like old freinds in a way. When you
cross the Menominee river on the interstate bridge, there
is a sign on the bridge in the middle of the river saying
you are leaving Mi. on one side and you are leaving Wi on
the other... Thanks for the memories.
